The Administration Index, System Tab
This tour is following the flow of the Video Demo's which is a more complete account. If you are not visually impaired or hearing impaired then viewing the videos would be a better way to continue the tour. Video demos.
Below is the screenshot of the Admin Index page showing the System tab, for your reference, before it is discussed below.
The "System" tab contains those items which cannot really be placed anywhere else. I will show the options below, complete with extra detail, but not following the order on the page.
- Roles - Permissions are determined through "roles". For instance a role may be "Refunds manager" and users who have the role of "Refunds Manager" would be able to do refunds. Since these are fixed into the program they are displayed only as a reference. A user is then assigned a number of "Roles" and this determines which functions they have access to on the system. It is the next page where you can set which user has which permission.
- Users - This page lets you add and edit users, and set their permissions. This will be used mainly for staff. Change lost passwords here. Beware, if the user account does not have an associated customer account then the user will be limited in what he can do. Do not use this to change passwords for customers, staff only. Customers should use the password reminder page. Only users with no customer account can be shown on this page. Any member of Staff who wishes to buy a product will have to do so under a different account.
- Country administration. - Use this page if you start shipping to a new country, or a country changes it's name. Check with Artumi Systems that the postage calculating system works as required if you add a country.
- Currencies Should the currency of the UK change, or you choose to do business in more than one currency you will require this page.
- Login attempts. - Each failed log in attempt is stored here. It will be used to block hackers from accessing the site if there proves to be a problem.
- Login log. - All logins are recorded, and you can view them here.
